This work saw the re-cladding and weatherproofing of an existing café in Scottish larch with a raised timber deck providing pavilion access for the disabled. Designed to weather to a silver grey colour in time the timber was chosen for its robustness and low-maintenance requirements.
Greg Meikle, landscape architect at AHR, commented: “We have been delighted with the transformation of what was an unremarkable café layby stop into a much more appealing location worthy of a stop and refreshment. The quality of workmanship by the local contractor has been exemplary and we feel that for a relatively modest outlay the client has gained a place of real interest.”
This work follows extensive public realm improvements
to the town centre and moves to develop a new East Pier.
