A print campaign to highlight the importance of supporting local businesses and to promote the #LovesLocal Shop Local campaign is being rolled out across 5 towns in Dunbartonshire.

A #LovesLocal flyer listing some of the local businesses has been produced for Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Clydebank, Dumbarton and The Vale of Leven (Alexandria) and will be delivered door to door. It also encourages people in each area to “#ThinkLocalFirst” and get behind the campaign, shop local and engage via the local social media channels that have been set up for each town. Clubs, societies and community groups are also been invited to register their organisation online and share any news and events as part of the activity.

Damon Scott, Project Co-ordinator and Chief Executive, Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce, hopes it will encourage more businesses to register online and get involved: “The flyers list just some of the fantastic businesses that have registered with us in and around the towns where we have launched the LovesLocal campaign. Each of the 5 towns now has a Loves Local website with a business directory as well as the facility for community groups, clubs and other local organisations to promote themselves, their events and news. We hope the flyer will continue to raise awareness about the campaign and that it will encourage more businesses and community groups to register and get involved.”

“We have been delighted by the support we have had from the local business community and the Community Advertiser has been a fantastic partner to help promote the campaign as well as undertaking some of the local deliveries along with the magazines.”

“Choosing to shop, eat and think locally helps build the prosperity of an area as well as being better for the environment, reducing our carbon footprint to build a fairer, greener society.”

Loves Local is a national campaign, funded by the Scottish Government through Scotland’s Town Partnership and has been delivered locally by the Chamber of Commerce working in partnership with East and West Dunbartonshire Councils and the local Business Gateways.

The #DumbartonLovesLocal, #ClydebankLovesLocal and #TheValeLovesLocal campaign team wants to hear from any local businesses that would like to get involved, get listed on any of the town websites, share news and information or need support. Contact can be made through any of the websites:
