On Wednesday 25 October 2017 the Cross Party Group on Towns and Town Centres met with MSPs, towns stakeholders, and representatives of small and rural towns for "A Celebration of Scotland’s Small and Rural Towns". Attendees also raised awareness for Scotland's Towns Week, 20-26 November 2017.
The annual parliamentary reception to celebrate Scotland's small and rural towns heard from invited speakers, who discussed recent progress in support for towns and city districts in Scotland, as well as the latest policy developments. Talks were given by Kevin Stewart MSP (Minister for Local Government and Housing), John Scott MSP (Convenor, CPG Towns and Town Centres), Lindley Kirkpatrick (Borders Railway Programme Executive, Scotrail) and Professor Leigh Sparks (Chair, Scotland's Towns Partnership).
