The Community Development Alliance Scotland recently asked its members, including Scotland’s Towns Partnership, for short statements on how they see community development as relevant to their work, and how their work contributes to community development.

“Statements from CDAS member organisations” reproduces the responses that CDAS received. CDAS believes that it shows the wide variety of sectors and types of organisation for whom community development is important and the many ways in which they contribute to it. It is hoped that the statements will stimulate further debate on how common approaches might be developed.

Scotland’s Towns Partnership’s statement read: “Successful towns are where communities work together collaboratively – different groups doing different things but all working towards a shared goal. It is vital that businesses and residents work constructively and build trust and respect”.
