World Towns Leadership Summit Report
On 15th & 16th June 2016 Scotland hosted a unique global gathering for 200 leading urbanists, planners, economists and practitioners from across the world to discuss the alliances and approaches required to develop and achieve a strong competitive economy combined with a fairer, more equal society in a fast moving 21st Century.

An anchor of the Summit was the final shaping of a World Towns Framework: A Public-Private-Social Vision for Urban Centres. This will act to inform our work and influence both governments and key international institutions in their approach to towns and neighbourhoods. This includes feeding into the United Nations Habitat III Conference, to be held in Quito 17-20 October 2016.

Understanding Scottish Places is an online platform for towns' practitioners and communities. It is designed to help us better understand the function of the towns that we live and work in and provides the opportunity to compare and contrast towns across Scotland.
Designed to support communities, public, private and third sectors, to work efficiently together, the Place Standard provides a framework to assess the quality of a place.
