Job Outline

Edinburgh is one of the world’s most successful, innovative and creative cities; home to the largest arts festival in the world. The Old Town is an integral part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Royal Mile at the heart of this is one of the most iconic streets in Edinburgh, running from Edinburgh Castle to the Parliament. This medieval heart of the city has challenging demands as a year-round centre for business, culture and tourism with headline tourist attractions, museums, specialist retail offering and a thriving night time economy.

The BID Project Manager, under the direction of the Old Town Steering Group, will manage and help lead a process to achieve a successful outcome to the BID campaign through substantial direct engagement with a wide range of old town businesses and stakeholders to articulate their ideas into an ambitious and robust BID Business Plan. Success will be measured by securing a simple majority vote in its favour at a consequent ballot of all eligible businesses.

The Project Manager will take the lead in creating an active, positive consultation process, demonstrating effective project management; developing relationships, bringing new sponsors/ partners on board, proposal development and communication. The post holder will be responsible for developing and managing a positive response to the BID Business Plan and subsequent campaign.

The ideal candidate will have BID or similar experience - working across sectors, stakeholders and partners of different scales and priorities, and will have a record of achievement through engagement, negotiation and influence. The role requires a self-motivated, results driven and highly organised individual, possessing exceptional communication and listening skills, with a collaborative approach to problem solving. The role will require media engagement.
