Identifying a Project - Friday 19th February

A project aimed at improving your community will have a greater impact, encounter fewer obstacles and be more likely to secure funding if it has the support of the community and if they feel they have an ongoing say in how the project is run. In this workshop you will learn about how to conduct effective consultation and background research in order to identify a project that will   be supported. You’ll also consider how to design a project that is participative.

Delivered by:

Keep Scotland Beautiful, via the Community Action Support Programme (CASP). The CASP supports community groups across Scotland to take action on climate change.

Pamela Candea and Anthony Morrow have many years community work experience between them.  Associates of The Surefoot Effect which equips people with the awareness, belief and confidence to take the next step toward sustainable, equitable living and working.

During the day we will:

  • Explore methods to carry out community consultations - identifying need; establishing support; identifying community assets

  • Consider different levels of community participation - service delivery to co-design and there benefits and draw backs

  • Understand support and advice that's available and how best to work with others

  • Look at good governance practises

By the end of the day you will:

  • Improve your consultation activities to establish need and support and identify assets and   opportunities.

  • Develop a plan to increase community participation in your project design
