Empowering Planning, Transforming Places

Planning is going through a time of change. The Independent Review of the Scottish Planning System has outlined the potential of the system and put forward a range of possible solutions. A White Paper on planning will be published by the end of the year to be followed by a Planning Bill, regulations, guidance and advice. So what type of planning system do we want and need? What does this look like? And what do we need to do to take it forward?

The conference will look at how planning and planners can impact on place at different scales – national, regional, local and community – and will explore how it has been able to deliver quality outcomes in different circumstances. It will also challenge us to ensure that planners, planning and the planning system can help to meet the aspirations and ambitions of others.

The conference is a ‘must attend’ for anyone with a stake in planning and who wants to contribute to the debate on the future of the system and the profession.
