EDAS' AGM and special lecture by Dr. Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive and Chief Economist of the European Policy Centre in Brussels. The event will take place on the PA Consulting Rooftop in central Edinburgh on the morning of Friday 17 June.
The event will begin with breakfast and AGM business directed by EDAS chair, Robert Pollock. Following this, Charlie Woods, EDAS Vice-Chair (Policy) and Director of the Scottish Universities Insight Institute, will give an overview of EDAS'Route Map for Common Ambition, including outputs and key issues after a year of work on Internationalisation, Innovation and Skills. There will also be a talk from a PA Consulting Change Expert on the capabilities required to engender strategic change in Scotland's economy.
Attendees will then hear a special presentation from Dr. Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive and Chief Economist of the European Policy Centre in Brussels. Dr. Zuleeg will discuss the internationalisation of the Scottish economy in the context of the European Union, and how the Scottish economy can adapt to increasing competition, interconnectedness and digitalisation. This will touch upon the strategic role the public sector can play in building cross-border and inter-regional relationships, and supporting workers and firms to successfully adapt to changing global economic conditions. The talk will be based upon Dr. Zuleeg's paper on opportunities and challenges for the internationalisation of the Scottish economy, which he authored for EDAS' article series Culture, Outlook and Scottish Internationalisation. Fabian received his higher education in Scotland, and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Edinburgh.
