Scotland’s Towns Partnership and Scotland’s Improvement Districts would like to update our members, partners and wider network on changes to our activities and working arrangements in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

We also include several key messages which we are promoting on behalf of all of those with a stake in our towns and city districts. Our priority is to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our team, partners and the wider public, and the following measures have been taken with this in mind.

Events & Meetings

Following official public health announcements regarding social distancing, STP has taken the decision to postpone all face-to-face events for the next three months. These include our workshops, Cross Party Group meetings, Parliamentary Reception and Towns Tea Party.

We are actively exploring options to move some of our events and seminars online. Where holding events online is not considered practicable, these will be rescheduled at a date to be advised dependent on official advice. Likewise, upcoming face to face meetings will be cancelled, and moved online wherever possible.

We will communicate all updates to our programme of activity and details of online events via our website, social media channels and newsletter, which you can sign up to here.

The STP team will continue to work remotely, providing our communications, membership and administrative services as usual. Our team has extensive experience in agile, remote and home working and will continue to be responsive to our members’ and stakeholders’ needs.

STP will closely monitor the public health situation as it develops and provide further updates as required. If you have any queries about our services during this period, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Key Messages

As society adapts to new public health measures and circumstances in response to Covid-19, Scotland’s Towns Partnership and Scotland’s Improvement Districts is promoting the following key messages:

  • We invite our networks to review the dedicated advice pages on the public health response and recommended measures provided by the UK Government and the Scottish Government.
  • We invite our networks to view the economic support packages announced by the UK Government and the Scottish Government including details on how your organisation, members or stakeholders can access available support as appropriate.
  • We are encouraging people to “Think Local First” and support their local businesses and communities as far as possible when adapting to COVID-19 guidelines. See media release from Phil Prentice, Chief Officer of STP.
  • Scotland’s Improvement Districts has also issued a letter of support and an advice note to all improvement districts in Scotland. Read this here.

Above all, together with our partners, we will continue to play a central role in supporting our towns and city districts in the challenging period ahead. We look forward to providing further updates soon, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch in the meantime.

Best wishes,

Scotland’s Towns Partnership & Scotland’s Improvement Districts
