After the successful launch of the Cycle Fund in 2018, ScotRail is delighted to reopen the fund for applications for projects starting in 2019.

The funding will be used to deliver projects which contribute to Scotrail’s vision of providing a ‘doorstep to destination’ journey for customers, whilst reducing congestion and pollution. The Cycle Fund supports the programme set out by the Scottish Government to increase cycling and active travel. It offers organisations the opportunity to work with Scotrail to deliver enhanced cycling infrastructure and encourage as many people as possible to integrate cycling into their everyday journeys.

A total of £100k is available from the Cycle Fund, with projects being required to provide match- funding. The projects the fund supports “must improve integration between rail and cycling and support ScotRail’s ‘Doorstep-to-Destination’ vision”.

The fund can be used to support projects which will:

  • Enhance Cycle / Rail Integration through physical access and connectivity to stations
  • Increase cycle facilities and information relating to cycling at stations
  • Market and promote cycling and walking with a specific focus on links to the railways network
  • Create an environment which encourages cycling in relation to the railway network

However, Scotrail are also happy to discuss any other specific or innovative ideas you may have.

The fund looks for implementation of the projects during 2019/20, and asks that you complete and return the cycle application form to the ScotRail Cycle Manager no later than the 1 March 2019

More information on the fund and applications can be obtained by contacting ScotRail’s Cycling Manager Kathryn MacKay at [email protected]
