SURF is hosting five online regional events this Autumn, all designed to provide information, enhance place-based trust and share learning on cooperative responses to COVID related challenges in regeneration. They will encourage open, inclusive and constructive cross sector discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to share their COVID experience and to join a national conversation on how we can move forward together.
Read full information on the SURF website here.
The aim is to encourage more cross sector collaboration which can:
- respond to immediate, and longer-term issues created by the pandemic
- provide socially and economically pressured communities with more holistic support
- identify common causes, shared challenges and collaborative solutions
- record, analyse and present further learning, which will assist communities and relevant policymakers to rebuild better
The series of regional interactive events will be based on SURF’s own continuing research and learning from its unique cross sector forum of frontline delivery organisations and those national agencies which support them.
SURF’s final report on shared and differential learning across the five geographic settings, will include recommendations on policy and further activity on a sectoral and collective basis, to help sustain post pandemic community resilience.

Background
The SCSC is an expanded version of SURF’s successful People and Sector Connector Service, which has previously worked with local government to share and promote knowledge and best practice on topical regeneration policy themes. The original programme provided networking and shared learning opportunities for more than 100 participants with regeneration related responsibilities in local authorities across Scotland. https://www.surf.scot/projects/alliance-for-action/people-sector-connector/
The knowledge and experience of those members remains at the core of the enlarged SURF COVID Cross Sector Connector Service, but now includes a wider range of regeneration partners. including those working in the community, voluntary, academic and private sectors, in addition to other public bodies such as Health Boards and national agencies.
