A NEW housing development in the village of Winchburgh, West Lothian has been named the best in Scotland.

The picturesque Devon Lane development has led Stewart Milne Homes to take home the Development of the Year prize, supported by Scotland’s Homes, at The Herald Property Awards for Scotland 2016.

The event, held in association with Burness Paull, saw hundreds of figures from across the house building and development industry gather at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow last night hosted by comedian and broadcaster Des Clarke.

Scott Peterkin, Partner, Burness Paull said: “Year on year the Herald Property Awards in association with Burness Paull showcase the dynamism and enthusiasm of the people that work in our property development industry and the high quality homes and commercial buildings they deliver. 2016 is no different. In every category we have seen fantastic examples of market leading developments, from small to large scale. The judging process is rigorous and thorough and it was difficult to choose the winners with such an array of high quality people and products. This is an industry to be proud of and our congratulations go to all the winners.”

Entries were received from all over the country from John O’Groats to Campbeltown and the judges spent several months travelling the country to compare each of the projects.

Big winners were Avant Homes who picked up two awards on the night, the Best Family Home for Developers Building More Than 50 Units sponsored by Peace Recruitment for ‘The Pendlebury’ and also the Property Team of the Year award, sponsored by Space and Time Media.

Chris Peace, managing director at Peace Recruitment offed his congratulations to Avant Homes, adding: “I would also like to congratulate all the other winners and finalists in what was another successful and enjoyable evening.”
